The Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC) will host two free application preparation webinars to discuss the guidelines and online application process for the FY22 General Operating Support I Grants (GOS I). The webinars will also cover navigating the online SurveyMonkey Apply (SMApply) grants portal.
The webinars will take place on:
- Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Instructions on how to join will be sent via email to registrants on the day of the webinar.
Please make sure to have the following materials ready before joining:
- A computer with a strong internet connection (Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox recommended) to join the webinar and access the online application; and
- A copy of the FY22 GOS I guidelines. (It is highly recommended that webinar attendees read the FY22 GOS I guidelines beforehand and come prepared with questions.)
Both webinars will cover the same material. Applicants are not required to attend preparation webinars, however AHCMC recommends that all applicants attend. First-time applicants are highly encouraged to contact AHCMC grants staff and attend one webinar prior to applying.

General Operating Support I Grants (GOS I) are available to non-profit arts and humanities organizations located in Montgomery County, MD that have had both allowable annual cash operating revenue and expenses of at least $50,000 up to $150,000 for the last three completed fiscal years. Grants are also available to an arts and/or humanities division within an umbrella non-profit organization, provided that the division has had both allowable annual cash operating revenue and expenses of at least $50,000 for the last three completed fiscal years. Organizations that have had allowable annual cash operating revenue and expenses of more than $150,000 are eligible if the organization is not a recipient of an FY21-22 General Operating Support II Grant(GOS II).
General operating support is defined as support for day-to-day operating costs to further the general mission or work of an organization rather than for a specific project. Grant awards support organizations that work in a wide array of arts and humanities disciplines including performing arts, media arts, visual arts, literary arts, and folk and traditional arts, history, and philosophy.
The award amounts for GOS I Grants range from at least $10,000 up to $50,000. The grant guidelines and application templates are available on the AHCMC website (https://www.creativemoco.com/grant/gos1/).
